Habibia School of Hope for Orphans
Habibia School of Hope for Orphans was started in 2013 by late Shanaaz Sayhebolay. Initially, funds were raised in South Africa, and then in Dubai and the UK. It was coordinated on the ground in Moro by charity worker Ahmed Ali. They started with 30 orphaned children and a few teachers in a rented building. Today, over 200 orphans and needy children are registered across 7 grades. The children receive free uniforms, books, food, and transport. Due to the rising costs of the school, it was decided to embark on a project that would provide a permanent school for these children and the hundreds that are still waiting to register. A supporter of the project from the USA, Yusuf Gaffoor, has kindly provided the funds to purchase the land and build the school. Sadly, Mr. Gaffoor passed away in January 2021 and the school remains incomplete, and funds are needed to complete construction of the school and sustain the daily lives of these children.
